Mozilla just dropped the latest version of its popular Firefox web browser and it could make your internet experience way less annoying.
Its hot new feature: automatically blocking autoplaying video with sound. Videos that autoplay on mute by default won’t be affected by Firefox’s block, so it’s clear that Mozilla is focusing on specific types of videos that go out of their way to annoy users. Videos that autoplay after you finish watching a previous video, like on YouTube or Netflix, also won’t be affected by the block.
While Google’s Chrome browser has had a similar feature for about a year now, Firefox’s solution seems more thorough. By default, Chrome doesn’t block every site that autoplays videos like Firefox does. It’s also a lot easier for users to quickly whitelist a website with videos they don’t want to block with Firefox.
